7 Deadly Goats

A four-person game jam entry created over 48 hours for the FIEA/UCF Collegiate Game Jam 2025. I served as Technical Designer and Writer, handling level layout, narrative writing, voice acting, and working directly with the programmer to implement the gameplay trials within the jam window.

7 Deadly Goats is a dark action game in which you play as a shepherd whose flock has been possessed by the seven deadly sins. Summoned by a mysterious higher goat being, you are tasked with hunting down each corrupted goat and turning their own sin against them to defeat them. The game leans into an absurd premise with a serious undertone - each goat embodies its sin in ways that change how you have to engage with it, requiring you to think about the nature of the sin itself to find the weakness. The ending leaves the fate of the world deliberately open, asking whether purging the sins saves your world or destroys what makes it worth saving.

I designed the level layout for the game, structuring the space to introduce each of the seven goat encounters in a sequence that built tension and gave the player room to understand the sin-exploitation mechanic before difficulty ramped up. Working directly alongside the programmer throughout the jam, I handled the implementation side of the gameplay trials - setting up encounter triggers, scripting the conditions under which each goat could be defeated, and iterating on the timing and pacing of each fight within the 48-hour window. The close collaboration with the programmer meant design decisions could be tested and adjusted in real time rather than waiting on a handoff pipeline.

I wrote the script for the game's narrative, covering the framing story delivered by the higher goat being, the flavor text associated with each of the seven sins, and the ambiguous ending sequence. The writing aimed to balance the inherent comedy of the premise with a genuine philosophical weight - the question of whether eliminating the sins is a salvation or a loss. I also voice acted the script in full, performing the higher goat being's lines and any narration within the jam window. Recording and integrating audio under a 48-hour deadline required fast iteration on performance and close coordination with the rest of the team on implementation timing.
